10/10/10 10:10

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

Well, I try to avoid geeky posts, but here’s one anyway. I thought that a) it might serve as a salutary tale for some, and b) you might find it useful. Who knows?!

Spam email gems

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

One of my little jobs is to babysit the Cambridge Environment Initiative website, deal with email and post, and so on, just while they’re waiting to get some more staff in. So every week, I check the email, and try and pick out the real messages for CEI, from the offers of fake watches, unbelievable riches, penis extensions, Russian wives, etc. (more…)

RSS

Merci! :)

What the heck is RSS?

Well, according to www.whatisrss.com, RSS is…

… a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.

A more technical description can be found on Wikipedia.

Great. So what?

Well, instead of you having to visit our fantasically interesting blog so that you can find out what colour Cillian’s poo is (more on that in another post), or what we had for dinner yesterday, or where we went on holiday… all those myriad exciting things… you can simple subscribe to our RSS feed, and be updated. That way, if you spot an article you want to read more about (or see the pictures for), you can then choose to visit our site. Neat, huh?

So I have just recently changed the link to RSS. If you’re already a subscriber, and I know that as many as TWO of you already are, please can you unsubscribe, and then resubscribe? Click on that RSS / Totoro image, up there on the right hand side, and away you go.

Upgraded!

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Well, an upgrade to the latest version of Wordpress seems to have gone swimmingly. I have reactivate a couple of plugins, but basically it’s done. And the cool (and a bit geeky, I admit) thing is that I am now able to manage my blog from my iPod. Wow.

Well, it impressed me!
